I get an "API Connection Failed" when I try to play this in the NewGrounds Player, a similar error when playing it without. Any ideas how to fix it?

EDIT: Game is working with a few minor graphical glitches in Ruffle as of 2023, but not unlocking medals. Tested in Chrome.

This is one of the few games I've seen where the medals enhance the game massively. That 5 minute speedrun medal is VERY tough, but really highlights how well put together this game is, and is very fun in creating your own routes through the levels. Happy Christmas to everybody!

This game put a giant SMILE on my face! Such a good ending!

I love this game. The 5000 points challenge appears nearly impossible when you first start, but you get the hang of it over time and get better. Combos are key for hi-scores, bounce an item back 10 times to score 2050 points, meaning it is worth just focusing on one item, and letting yourself get hit if needed to in order to keep the combo going.

This game is fantastic! Frantic, but not to the point of being impossible to keep up, and some of the 100% challenges are genuinely quite tough!

This is a really good educational game for showing how the pandemic unfolds, and what strategies government can use.

Is there an alternative ending to this game? The end screen says "You escaped but you must still find your friend.". The Crystal Ball and the shoe (presumably of your friend) are never used, it would be logical to somehow use the crystal ball to locate the friend from the shoe, but I can't work out anyway to do it.

It's got a lot going on, just like the circus! Can you check the "Awesome Ending" and "Scary Ending" medal? They are set at 0 points, and as such, unobtainable.

EDIT: Just earned all the different ending medals. It's an enjoyable game, and takes quite a few hours!

They're not 0 points, that's how medals start out if no one has ever achieved one. You can be the first!

I feel happy after playing this!

This game is phenomenal! I've never played anything like this, and is so heartwarming. What were your influences for this game?

minibunnies responds:

I spoke with our game designer to see what her inspirations were when creating the game flow of Hazel. The game was originally made for the theme 'Watch them Grow' in the gm48 game jam, which gave the inspiration for being a 'Plant Mom' watching your kids grow and leave home, which is funny because none of us are parents. For the mechanic, it was always something that she had lying in the back of her mind, recording and using dialogue/sounds. She wanted the recorder to have the ability to record sounds such as a vase breaking to lure enemies away but she decided to go for a more cozy and wholesome loop to fit the theme better, and to work within the 48 hour time frame of the game jam. It also reminds her of a point and click adventure game which she is a fan of.

Hello World! Hope you're having a good day. Feel free to message me if you want anything.
